The Madglove 5–5 Method

Assessment.
Fit. Prescribed.
Under 15 minutes.

A simple method for clinicians to find out if a patient is suitable and get them using the glove — all in one session.

The method

Five steps.
Under 15 minutes.

Five steps that fit inside a normal appointment. By the end, you know if the glove works for the patient — and what to do next.

Step 01

5-Minute Assessment

Check four things

  • The patient can bend their fingers a little — the glove helps with opening the hand, not closing it
  • The patient has difficulty opening or straightening their fingers
  • The patient can understand and follow a simple one-step instruction
  • There is a clear goal — picking something up, letting go, or using their hand
All four apply? Move on. No further assessment needed.
Step 02

Wrist Check

Check the wrist before fitting

A stable wrist helps the fingers work better. It also helps you decide which product to use.

Wrist is dropping or unstable The wrist needs support — Madglove Assist is the right choice
Wrist is stable or needs to stay flexible Consider the Custom Kit to keep the wrist free
Step 03

Product Selection

Two options. Pick the right one.

The wrist check points you to the right product. Both help with finger extension — the difference is how the mechanism is set up.

Madglove Assist
Ready to wear Supports the wrist On in 5–10 mins

A glove with built-in wrist support. The wheel and baseplate sit in a fixed position on the glove. Put it on, adjust it, and it is ready to use. Best for patients whose wrist drops or needs support.

Custom Kit
Wrist stays free Fitted by a technician Installed in 10 mins

Our mechanism fitted onto a brace made by your orthotist or technician. Because the wheel can be moved and repositioned, it can be placed exactly where each patient needs it — on one finger, multiple fingers, or the thumb. Best for patients who need a more tailored setup or whose wrist needs to stay free.

Step 04

5–10 Minute Fit

Put it on and adjust

  • Put on the selected glove or brace
  • Adjust the fit so it is comfortable and in the right position
  • Check the wrist support if needed
Most patients are fitted in 5 minutes. Allow up to 10 for a first fit or if more adjustment is needed.
Step 05

Functional Test

Try one simple task

Ask the patient to pick something up, let it go, or make a basic hand movement. You will see straight away if it helps.

The hand moves better → it works. You can prescribe.

If nothing changes: adjust once and try again. If it still does not help — stop. Either way, you have a clear answer.

From validation to supply

One assessment.
Two routes to device.

You assess once. After that, the path to getting the patient their device is straightforward — whichever product is right for them.

Route A — Madglove Assist
Clinician / Physio
Assesses and prescribes
Runs the 5–5 Method. If it works, writes a prescription for the Madglove Assist. No brace-making needed.
Patient
Goes to the supplier
Takes the prescription to the supplier, who provides the glove directly.
Supplier
Provides the glove
Hands over the Madglove Assist. Orders more as prescriptions come in.
Route B — Custom Kit
Clinician / Physio
Assesses and refers
Runs the 5–5 Method using the Madglove Assist to check if the glove helps. If a custom brace is the better fit, refers to an orthotist or technician.
Orthotist / Technician
Makes the brace and fits the mechanism
Makes a brace to suit the patient. Attaches the Madglove mechanism to it — can be placed on any finger or the thumb where it is needed most.
Patient
Gets their custom device
The brace is fitted and tested. Once it works well, the prescription is written.
Both routes start the same way. The Madglove Assist is always used first to check if the glove helps — even if the plan is to make a custom brace later. This means you know it works before any brace-making begins.

Why it works

Designed for
every stakeholder.

For clinicians & physios

Know if it works before you prescribe

You see the result in the same appointment. No extra sessions, no guesswork. A prescription template is included so the next step is straightforward.

For orthotists & technicians

Put the mechanism where it is needed

The Custom Kit attaches to any brace you make. The wheel can be moved and repositioned — so you can target one finger, several fingers, or the thumb depending on the patient.

For patients

Use your hand more

You find out in the appointment if it helps. If it does, you leave with a clear next step — and a device that supports you at home, every day.

For distributors & suppliers

See real results

The sample kit pilot gives you real prescription data from clinicians in your area. You order stock based on what is actually happening, not on estimates.
